Seek
We seek to understand our community, be empathetic, tolerant, reflective, and curious.
Students’ questions are the seeds of real learning.
Students’ questions are the seeds of real learning. The average 4 year old asks 300 questions a day. We want our students to tap into their natural curiosity and inquisitiveness.
Lead
We take action to innovate, inspire, and design.
Once students have pondered and researched their questions, we want them to be action-oriented LEADERS of CHANGE for their community—whether they seek ways to clean dirty creek water, to helping improve the habitats for animals/insects, to building prosthetic arms, as our MESA students have done.
Learn
We learn for a purpose.
Learning is authentic, relevant, and public.
We want students to develop an empathetic approach to problem solving, asking: “How can we make this better?” They learn by doing—through trial and error, observation and reflection. Their productive struggles can take them from engagement to empowerment in their own learning.
