Mathematics

Mathematics in today's classrooms require our students to do much more than memorize math facts and formulas. The State Standards demand that students apply their knowledge of mathematical procedures to complex problems where they must explain and justify their reasoning. Our curriculum supports students in meeting these rigorous expectations.

Students exiting 7th grade have the opportunity to qualify for the CAP (Compacted Accelerated Program) classes in 8th grade. Qualification is based on specific set of recommendations and considerations, not the least of which is student interest. The 8th grade CAP classes provide students 2 years of math instruction in one. Students who successfully complete the 8th grade CAP class are expected to enroll in the Integrated 2 math course in local high schools.
